Welcome to our “Lilley” family history website. We have provided as much historical data as we have been able to trace.
We invite you to contribute any background information that you may have. Photos will be particularly welcome, no matter the quality, in order to preserve as much as we can of our heritage. Let us leave our descendants something to remember us by.
All descendants are welcome to contribute whatever information they may have. You may use our email address or contact any of the persons listed on the "Contacts" page.
Dig out all those precious, family photos and stories hidden away in our homes and our minds. We need to preserve these memories so that they can be shared for generations to come. When we are gone, so will all those memories and treasures be gone, unless we share and preserve them.
Please note that most, if not all, of the information and many pictures on this website, is due to the research and hard work of Noreen Holmes, née Keenan, eldest daughter of Daphne Florence, née Lilley. She has consented to making all the information available on this website for our benefit. Thank you Noreen for all your hard work over the past years.
Both Noreen and her husband, Neville Holmes, have published a book which may be read by clicking on the links below.

Why Is Your Family Tree Important?
Firstly. What is a family tree?
Simply, it is a record of your lineage/ancestry, showing the members of your family throughout recent, and even distant history.
It tells you who your family is, how it has grown, and where you originally came from.
It allows you to become familiar with your family members and other close relatives as well.
That is a simplified answer.
But family trees can be so much more, as they can shape who we are, how we interact with a community, and the things we value each day to day.
Establishing a family tree can be a lot of work and requires the cooperation of all.
However, having access to one can be extremely rewarding.
Beyond the value of establishing where you and your ancestors came from, family trees can have practical uses too. Establishing lineage can sometimes impact inheritance, but I doubt if this will be of much value to us. I am sure we would all love to hear from some deceased wealthy aunt, but judging from the size of the Lilley family tree, there won’t be much for each of us, irrespective of how wealthy she might have been.
While many are unlikely to find a surprise fortune or an aristocratic title in their family trees, you will often discover fascinating facts about what your relatives did and thought.
Whatever your feelings and thoughts are of your family tree, one should remember that you might not be particularly interested in it now, but do not deny your descendants, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren etc. the opportunity to know about you and their ancestors. How do you know that they might not become historians and find their past fascinating?
Irrespective of who you are, you are sitting on a wealth of information that only you know. Why not sure it with your descendants?
Therefore, we urge you, share your information with your offspring in writing and/or in images.
Do you want to be remembered?
